UHS Phlebotomy Services - appointment only from 10th August 2020
Phlebotomy services are changing to an appointment only system to enable social distancing and reduce waiting times for patients. Patients can choose where and when they have their blood test. Appointments can be made by GPs, outpatient clinics or by patients. The number to make appointments is 023 8120 4877 Monday-Friday 08.00-18.00. The phone number will be operational from 10th August 2020.
The walk in service will be phased out as the appointment system embeds; patients please ensure you start to book your appointment from 10th August 2020
All patients should bring their blood form with them to the appointment, as the Phlebotomists may not be able to print it for them.
Phlebotomy services are available at Southampton General Hospital, C level, South Laboratory Block, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.45pm
The blood test service for children is not changing; these will continue to be done in the Butterfly Room, C level, Monday to Friday 8.30 and 11am, and 2pm and 5pm. 16 and 17 year olds may visit the adult blood test service instead if they prefer – but they have to book an appointment and bring their form with them. More information on Children’s blood tests can be found here.
Website Redesign - Patient Feedback Welcome
We are redesigning our website and would value patient feedback. Please complete a short patient survey of 10 questions here, to tell us:
- What you use the website for
- What you find helpful about our website
- What can be improved
Survey results are anonymised and no patient-identifiable data is requested.
Dental Advice for People Living with Dementia
In patients living with dementia, their oral health is often at higher risk as they are less like to remember to brush, may be physically unable to brush as effectively/at all, or have lost the understanding of the importance of keeping their teeth clean.
Therefore, they are more likely to develop dental decay, gum disease and experience dental pain. Guidance and help is available below Dental advice for people living with Dementia
Based on patient feedback we've made the following improvements
- We have launched a new mobile compatible website, offering more information to patients regarding the services we offer and how to access them.
- eConsult is now available, enabling more doctor access for online consultations. Click the eConsult banner on our home page to try it now.
- Routine GP and Nurse appointments that are available to be booked are released throughout the day after 10:30 and again after 15:30.
- Our same day Urgent care service has been reviewed providing a centralised urgent care team across all our surgeries. Please phone from 08:00 - 10:30 or between 14:00 - 16:30 for same day, urgent care.

Who Are The CQC?
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve.

Evening and Weekend Appointments
If you are registered with a GP practice in Southampton, you can now get an appointment with a doctor or nurse from 8am to 8pm every weekday (including bank holidays), 8am to 4pm on Saturday and 8am to 2pm on Sunday. This appointment will be at one of the hubs throughout the city.
These appointment slots are for a variety of different clinics and can be booked through your GP practice when they are open or by phoning NHS 111 if your practice is closed. NHS 111 is free to phone and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
Mailing Address On Correspondence
Please note that the official mailing address of the Living Well Partnership is Weston Lane Surgery. This means that any written communications you receive a copy of (such as discharge summaries from hospitals) will therefore be addressed to Weston Lane Surgery and a GP you may not be familiar with, rather than your regular surgery and GP.
We would like to reassure you that this does not have any impact on the care you receive from your regular surgery and your GP will continue to receive all correspondence about you.
A reminder that our surgery sites are Ladies Walk, Weston Lane, Bitterne Park, Midanbury and Harefield.
If you have any queries, please get in touch with the Reception Lead at your registered surgery who will be happy to help further.
